Beth Ann Clayton, DNP, CRNA, FAANA, FAAN
Professor of Clinical Nursing & Nurse Anesthesia Program Director at the University of Cincinnati

With 20+ years of experience, Dr. Clayton is a respected clinician, researcher, advocate, and educator for CRNAs, SRNAs, and other nursing professionals. She is an AANA Fellow and a primary contributor to the AANA Analgesia and Anesthesia for the Obstetric Patient Guidelines. She will share her expertise and experience on several spinal, epidural, and obstetrics topics at this year’s workshop.  

Franklin McShane, DNP, CRNA  
Associate Professor & Director of Nursing Simulation at Rosalind Franklin University

Dr. McShane’s extensive experience includes serving as both a CRNA and program director for the U.S. Army and being the vice president for an independent private practice anesthesia group, as well as president of the Wisconsin Association of Nurse Anesthetists. He is also a respected author of numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals.  

Sarena Vargo, MSN, CRNA  
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in Cincinnati, Ohio  

Sarena Vargo will join us to share her extensive knowledge from 15 years of experience as a CRNA. Since graduating with honors and receiving her Master of Science in Nursing in 2007, she has delivered quality clinical care working alongside other doctors, specialists, and medical groups, including Mercy Fairfield Hospital and Anesthesia Group Practice Inc. 

Charles A. Reese, PhD, CRNA  
Associate Professor, Anesthesiology, Obstetrics (Ret.) at Medical College of Virginia Physicians   

Dr. Reese is a renowned doctor and professor in Anesthesiology as well as Obstetrics and Gynecology. He holds a BS in Nursing, Nurse Anesthesia, and an MBA in Health Services Management, as well as two PhDs: one in Health Services Administration and another in Adult Education. He was also the first CRNA to be recognized by AANA with all three of our top honors, including the Alice McGaw Clinical Practitioner Award (2000), the Helen Lamb Outstanding Educator Award (2006), and the Agatha Hodgins Award for Outstanding Accomplishment (2016).  

Mary Nadolny, MS, CRNA  
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in Portland, Maine   

Mary Nadolny is a CRNA with more than three decades of experience, a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Emory University. She served for 28 years as a CRNA in the U.S. Navy on numerous deployments around the globe.   

Lisa Osborne-Smith PhD, CRNA, FAANA  
Associate Professor of Nursing & Program Director of Nurse Anesthesia at Oregon Health Sciences University  

Lisa Osborne-Smith, PhD, CRNA, FAANA, is an Associate Professor of Nursing and the Program Director of the Nurse Anesthesia Program at Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon. She retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years of active-duty service and remains a practicing CRNA at OHSU. She is also the Associate Editor of the AANA Journal.
